One of the driving principles of Pulmonary Wellness has always been that an educated patient is our greatest ally in the fight against respiratory disease. Lack of information and understanding on the part of patients, their family members, caregivers, and even clinicians can pose one of the greatest obstacles to a patient’s ability to thrive and to truly achieve their highest level of health, wellness, and quality of life. Pulmonary Wellness has set out to change that.
Dr. Noah Greenspan’s Ultimate Pulmonary Wellness Book was released in September 2017. Thanks to a generous donation by the Nora and Roger Gimbel Foundation, Ultimate Pulmonary Wellness is available to READ ONLINE free of charge.
The Ultimate Pulmonary Wellness Lecture and Webinar Series is an online educational program for patients, family members, caregivers, and clinicians. These lively and informative presentations focus on the many varied aspects of living well with a pulmonary disease and include such topics as better breathing techniques, exercise and nutrition, among many others.
The Ultimate Pulmonary Wellness Facebook Group is an online education and support group that covers every possible topic that one might encounter in the course of not just living, but living well with a respiratory disease. The group’s mission is to provide a safe, friendly and supportive environment where people living with cardiopulmonary diseases as well as their family members, friends, and caregivers, can find information and support in dealing with their condition and its associated manifestations, as well as to interact with others who are facing similar challenges.
These include but are not limited to COPD, Asthma, Emphysema, Chronic Bronchitis, Bronchiectasis, NTM, Cystic Fibrosis, Sarcoidosis, Lung Cancer and Interstitial Lung Diseases such as Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis; and Pulmonary Hypertension, among others.
The Center’s research efforts are primarily dedicated to investigating the effects of high-intensity exercise as they relate specifically to safety, efficacy and pulmonary function in patients living with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Interstitial Lung Diseases and Pulmonary Hypertension. The Society’s current research projects include: 1. The Impact of High Intensity Aerobic Exercise on Pulmonary Function in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), 2. Safety and Efficacy of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation in Patients with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), and 3. Safety and Efficacy of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation in Patients with Pulmonary Hypertension (PH).
